The organization
SanoRice is the largest private label producer of puffed rice, corn and multigrain waffles in the world. The modern factories placed across Europe produce a wide variety of high-quality rice products. Other raw materials such as corn, buckwheat, lentils and quinoa are also processed in various cakes. Together with our customers we develop unique combinations with different raw materials, coatings and flavors. Around 80% of the waffles produced by SanoRice are exported (under private label) via retailers, A-brands and distributors to consumers in more than 40 countries worldwide.
SanoRice is a proud Dutch family business with a rich history and a bright future. Founded in 1987, SanoRice now has branches in the Netherlands, Italy, Belgium and since 2023 in Poland. With these 4 branches we make more than 15 million puffed waffles per day.
The department
The impact that Procurement makes for Sanorice is huge as they are responsible for all raw material, packaging and logistics costs incurred by Sanorice. Each category has its own dynamics which means you are constantly faced with new challenges that you have to solve using a sharp analytical mindset. This also provides a wealth of experience, as you will gain insights into different markets (both commodities and specialties) in a relatively short period of time. The Procurement team is centralized in Veenendaal and consists of three colleagues. Within Procurement we have many international contacts because we are responsible for all 4 factories and also the suppliers operate from all over the world. It is a relatively new department within Sanorice which means that there are many developments ongoing in the ways of working, which offers you the possibility also to contribute to the new ways of working. This internship will give you a kickstart for a possible career in the FMCG industry as it will give you directly relevant work experience at a market leader in the puffed cake segment.
Your challenge
As an intern in the Procurement department it’s all about learning. Discovering what procurement has to offer and what suits you best. You will be assigned a number of tasks that you can perform under supervision. In addition, together with you, we will determine what else you can and want to do. In Procurement no day is the same and you will support the Group Manager Procurement with:
- Conduct market analysis and research for the various categories as input to the purchasing strategy;
- Analyzing suppliers and conducting market research;
- Creating and maintaining KPIs;
- Participate in projects focused on cost savings and efficiency improvements;
- Communicate with internal departments such as Supply Chain, Quality and Innovation & Development and external suppliers;
- Contribute to reports and presentations.
Requirements and competencies
To make this internship a success, you should recognize yourself in the following description:
- You are in the 3rd or 4th year of a relevant (HBO or WO) study, such as Business Economics, Supply Chain Management, Logistics & Economics, or similar;
- Preferably available from Q1 2025 for a period of 6 months;
- You have experience with Microsoft Office and are especially proficient with Excel;
- Affinity with an international production environment within the food industry is a plus;
- You feel comfortable communicating with different parties both internally (office and factory) and externally (suppliers);
- You work independently and are good at organizing and keeping an overview;
- You feel at home in a dynamic and international environment at a fast growing family business;
- You have excellent communication skills, verbal and written in English. Dutch or other languages are considered as a plus.
- Personal characteristics: analytically strong, precise, persuasive, proactive, communicatively strong, eager to learn and a team player.
In addition an internship is primarily intended for learning and development, and we are happy to help you succeed.
